World Book Day comes to Lowtown
Lowtown relishes any opportunity to dress up so we were delighted by the response to this year's World Book Day. A huge thank you to our parents / carers who have obviously invested a great deal of time in ensuring the day was a huge success. We took part in lots of reading activities throughout the day culminating in "DEAR" - Drop Everything and Read - when the whole school were collectively reading for pleasure (including the adults) - you could hear a pin drop!
Children also brought in unwanted books from home and we held a 'book trade' where books could be exchanged / swapped for a book of their choice.
We then had the opportunity to hear from a real author - Hayley Dodsworth, who has just published her first book - "Emma Bright and the Super Food Fight". Hayley came in to assembly to introduce herself and her book before talking about the writing process to both years 5 and 6.
You can find out more about Hayley's book on her website www.thesuperfoodfight
